Mom and puppies are fine. We were sitting here last night eating supper and I was talking about Leffy and noticed she wasn't out with us (which all three of them are usually circling the dinner table). My son says, "Oh yeah, by the way, she was acting weird tonight. We were down watching TV and she was panting." And my husband says, "Yeah, she was..." In my mind I'm thinking What were you thinking?. So I go look for her, and she is IN MY BED, UNDER THE COVERS... and already has one delivered. YUCK. Not exactly the ideal place for birthing puppies. So I start helping her and send the boys off to get me towels and cleaning supplies, get the closet ready for mama transport, and generally just have some chaos. My husband decides that running around the house screaming "BOIL SOME SHEETS, BRING SOME WATER!" would be funny, and while I'm tying off the first one's umbilical cord, he says "What are you, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman?" We get her in the closet and she delivered all five with no problems... although number 3 scared me a bit because she took awhile. After the first one she figured it all out, and then all I had to do was open the sacks so they could breath when they first came out. One she did by herself. She did great! It was all over about 2am.
Today she is VERY protective. Has already went after Skeeter twice, growled at Skooter... but she just watches me, thankfully. That will dissipate in a few days, and she'll be begging Skeeter to babysit.
We have one darling almost brown little boy, and four really black girlies.
Anyway, that's my story! Today, I'm cleaning sheets and blankets, and working!
I'll post some pics of the new family in a little bit.
