If he is old enough he will when the time is right. If this is her first time in heat Do NOT MATE HER . Wait untill the second time. You should skip every other season she come in heat. Are they playing together? If they are like mine was they won't let you see them. I was watching mine and they went in the other room. When she turn that tail sideway she is ready. hope this helps you.

Hi there,

The "heat" period generally lasts 18-21 days, and is divided into 3 stages:

Start of the heat period is indicated by puffiness of the lips of the vulva.

Bleeding begins which may last 4-14 days - 10 days being the average.

She will be highly attractive to males but she will not accept them.

Bleeding diminishes or ceases, the vulva attains maximum enlargement, and she will accept dogs. This is the fertile period which can last 5-12 days, with sexual desire at its height during the first 2 or 3 days.

Having replied, I have to say, I don't agree with owners breeding their pets. There are over 2 million dogs put to death every year in the united states due to overpopulation (yes, pure bred dogs included) so why anyone would want to add to this already over-populated country is beyond my comprehension. Please be responsible dog owners, and not fly-by-night, or just for the experience dog breeders.

Be blessed,
