Do you have one that is a dream? Have you had a bad interaction? Are you just afraid of them?
Do you think it is more the dog or the owners??

I don't have issues with them, but the wife wouldn't allow one. She always said it isn't worth the risk in one snapping and hurting a kid. I guess I agree. I wouldn't want the guilt if anything did happen.

any dog can snap and hurt a child, not just pit bulls. my parents had dogs all their lives and when I brought home Etta, my first pit bull, they didn't want anything to do with her but now they tell anyone that she is the best dog they have ever had, and then came Tank :) They are great dogs, i'm sure there are some bad seeds out there, as with any breed, but since Etta was beaten and fought, yet she is the most gentle dog i've seen, that just shows me all they want is a little love :)

You know, I think it is like with any dog..... Every dog has its personality traits....Labs can generally be quite hyper, Tarriors definitly can be, German Shephards good guard dogs, my aussie i learnd when I got him can be quite intolerant of strangers unless brought up around them to learn tolerance...You might choose a certain dog to own depending on your home situation and if you have kids...which dog would best fit family. Pit Bulls are all in how you raise them....as with any dog....some tendencies they have that are part of their personality is just like with any dog.
I saw this pup at a yardsale that had pit in him.....totally cute!! Extremely lovey and friendly!!! not a bit of nipping or anything!!

In England, pit bulls are referred to as "nanny dogs". Their loyalty to their family is so great that people there feel totally comfortable with leaving their children and dogs together. That unfortunately is part of the reason pit bulls are so ferocius. If they are trained to fight in the pit to the death, they are willing to die to please their master. It's sickening to think that anyone can or would use the love and loyalty of an animal in such a brutal way.
I have a friend who has 2 kids. Her husband is frequently out of town; it's just her and her kids, along with the family dog who happens to be a pit bull. This dog is as gentle and sweet as my golden. But don't threaten her or her kids.
