I am thinking about getting my kids one. My question is, are they the kind of animal where I should get 2? Or are they ok to be the lone guinea pig in a cage?
Is there anything I should know? I have never had one before, but I hear they are pretty easy...

They are social animals, I would get two. Make sure the cage is big enough tho, they need a lot more space than you would think.

I've always had at least two. Try to get them at the same time; otherwise you might have territory and dominance issues. It can be a real pain, since you then need a "neutral territory" for the pigs to acclimate to each other. I've always enjoyed my piggies; they can be a lot of fun, especially when they're still young enough to popcorn.

When guinea pigs are born they are ready to GO!!! They're born with teeth, fur, etc. Until they get to almost adult age, they can tuck theiry hind feet under them and jump. It looks like popcorn popping. The young ones are usually full of energy and need a release. It kind of looks like a really clumsy version of a bucking bronco :)

That is funny. I have never seen babies.
I am having no luck finding them anyway. Beginning to think it would be easier to get nubby a friend.
