my mini aussie scratches his ears, shakes his head....not alot to say he cant stand it, but occassionally, like an annoyance. I have checked around online......I have cleaned his ears and checked them completly, checked around his ears, went online to find the proper way of grooming and bathing, and did so last night. I noticed him messing with his ears again, last night and this morning. He has only done it once in the last 2 hours. It does not pain him in any way to touch his ears, no redness or caked blood or smell in his ears, no bugs. He did have matted fur behind his ears. I have learned about how bad matted up fur can be, My daughter and I spent a while cleaning him up. I can honestly say there are no mats left behind his ears :). yet he still does it on occassion. He did have a raw mark behind both ears where he had been doing that before we got the mats, could the healing of that be what is bothering him now?
Any suggestions?
also ... how do you feel about a suggestion I was given about a drop of rubbing alchohol in the ear to clean clogged up ear wax and any mites that might be....?
Thank you....

Just wanted to add, I have noticed him scratching less and less, now I think maybe that good ol fasion grooming (and his ears healing where he scratched them) was all he needed.....

however I wouldnt mind a comment or two about that rubbing alcohol suggestion......
thank you

I have never heard rubbing alcohol, sounds painful!

I HAVE heard olive oil... on a cotton ball. Don't know why, but that is what we used growing up to clean them out.

olive oil sounds much more natural and safer, thank you...
