I had the most terrifying experience with my dogs today and am posting because I would not want anyone else to go through this.. I let my dogs outside this afternoon and noticed out the window that I could not see them, so I went to the porch and called them, they did not come. My 2 year old black lab and my 8 month old bloodhound was in the back of the yard and Miley (bloodhound) was laying on the ground. I walked out to see what was going on and my lab had caught her lower jaw in Miley chain, it got twisted and was choking the life out of her, Satin (lab) was trying to get her jaw out of the collar. I tried to get them undone and could not. I had to run to the house and wake my husband who thankfully grab bolt cutters and had to cut the chain off my dog, Miley was bleeding from the nose and mouth, Satin's lips and jaw is very swollen. The vet told me that Miley could have a damaged throat and that the next 12 to 24 hours are dangerous.
I never want to experience seeing my two beloved dogs in this position again. I have 4 dogs total and do not have a collar on any of them now and will not put one on them unless planning to leave the yard. So I am telling everyone that if they have chain collars on their dogs to be careful they are dangerous, my husband had to cut through the ring twice to get it off, they should have some saftey on these collars.
