HB 451 was introduced by Representative in the Florida House of Representatives. You can read the law on the web at http://www.myfloridahouse.com/Sections/Bills/billsdetail.aspx?BillId=40352&BillText=dogs&HouseChamber=H&SessionId=61

This bill is a clone of AB 1634, the mandatory spay/neuter bill that we fought in California. It will require all dogs and cats to be spayed/neutered at age 4 months, with exceptions for certain categories of dogs whose owners purchase a breeder's license.

The sponsor of this bill is Scott Randolph (D) from district 36. You can reach Rep. Randolph at:

Capitol Office:
400 House Office Building
402 South Monroe Street
Tallahassee, FL 32399-1300
Phone: (850) 488-0660

District Office:
Suite 100
701 East South Street
Orlando, FL 32801-2953
Phone: (407) 893-3084

You can e-mail Rep. Randolph on this web site: http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Representatives/emailrepresentative.aspx?MemberId=4378&SessionId=61

You can find good letters opposing mandatory spay/neuter at http://www.naiaonline.org/issues/opposeAB1634.htm If you live in Florida, please call your veterinarian immediately so they can generate opposition from the state veterinary medical association.

It is imperative that we act immediately. Swift, overwhelming opposition is the best way to defeat this bill. Remember how hard it was to defeat AB 1634 in California. We expect this fight to be equally long and hard.
