Recently, a member who is disabled asked me how to exercise her dog. I am going to post my response here as well, as some of you may also be interested in this type of information:
First, get a physical to check her for limitations (joint, muscle). Start adult dogs slowly. Begin by giving her all over body massages, and massaging, stimulating, and stretching her limbs. Once, she is limber, and has good circulation again, depending on her energy level you can use feline “Fishing” toys, and tennis balls attached to a string. Another easy, low impact form of exercise would be to just hide her food around the house or inside puzzle toys (be creative). Then, (as we move up the strength, cardio, and energy spectrum) the best form of exercise for her would be swimming, and finally a treadmill. Start REALLY slow, and keep it to 10 minutes max. As she gains strength, then increase the duration. Let us know how she does
