Hello Miami-area WagnBraggers,

Do you regularly find yourself flying out of Miami International Airport on trips? Have you seen this new idea being discussed by the Miami-Dade Commission?

"Instead of toting Fido to a kennel, vacationers and business travelers may one day be able to leave their pampered pet at a resort at Miami International Airport.

Miami-Dade commissioners will soon consider adding a pet hotel, which would generate much-needed revenue for the airport while offering passengers convenience."

The complete story of this idea is posted on the Miami Herald's web site

What do you think? Would you use this type of service if they add it? If you're not in Miami, does your local airport offer a similar service? Would you like for them to add this service where you live?

I think it's a great idea. The cost mentioned in the article is probably reasonable, but since I don't use boarding kennels I wouldn't know. It sounds expensive to me, but the convenience of picking up your pet immediately, and also peace of mind if you can view your pet at any time via webcam, probably makes up for the prices charged.

I worked for a breeder who also boarded. There was no set price, but the labor involved in taking in a dog, and making sure the dog was comfortable and happy, also communicating with the owners during their vacation (if it was more than a few days) was pretty intense. And the picture in the article looks like a great place for your dog.
