So, here's today's question for you: What tips can you offer for stretching your pet-related dollars? What money saving tricks do you use to get the most efficient use of your pet care budget?

Please feel free to share your thoughts here, so we can all benefit from your experience.

Thanks,

Having 3 large dogs, we are always on the search for a bargain. One thing we do is buy dogfood at Walmart instead of pet stores. We save about $4 - $6 per bag. Also we get creative with safe household items and make toys for them instead of buying. Besides, we have yet to find a store bought toy that can stand up to our girls.

Hello Dolphins Fan,

That's pretty interesting about making your own toys. What sorts of items do you use to make the toys?

Also, our golden retriever Dorrie says to say "Woof!" to Knoxville's own Chad Pennington the next time you see the Dolphins!

A home made toy that we make for Yoshi is to tie a tennis ball in an old gym sock. It's a good tugging toy as well as a fetch toy. When the sock gets too dirty, we just use another sock.

Hi there,

Owning a pet care biz - well, let's just say repleneshing toys can get pricey! :) I use bottles, boxes, string, clothing, tires, you name it! Be creative and you would be surprised at how many things you can come up with if you just let you "doggy" mindset wander...
