First off, you should know that a 5wk old puppy should still be with its mother....however, with that being said I will try to answer your questions.
1. A dog is NOT like a baby, they should sleep whenever they feel like sleeping and for as long as it wants to.
2. You should not keep food in his dish all the time, makes potty training much harder. Have scheduled feeding times and stick to those times.
3. The earlier you work on potty training, the better. A puppy that young should be taken out shortly after each meal and at least every half hour to one hour...pay attention to when he has an accident, it can give you an idea as to his behavior before going potty to give you an idea of what to look for when he needs to go out. While your potty training, limit the amount of water he gets, not saying dont give him any, offer water at feeding times and a few other times throughout the day. If he has an accident, immedietly take him outside and stay out with him until he goes potty and give LOTS of praise! Basically anything you can do to encourage him to go outside. Lots of praise and even treats when he does go outside.
Good Luck!!

Good Luck!

And remember to take the pup to the vet for the 4 sets of the 5 in 1 vaccine DHPPC. They should begin recieving their vaccines at 6 weeks of age until they are 16 weeks old. They get their first DHPPC vaccine at 6 weeks and then recieve another once every 3 weeks.

At 9 weeks of age they need their Bordatella vaccine.

Last but not least, they need to get a fecal exam done at beginning 6 weeks and also get dewormed.

Rabies is not done until they are 16 weeks old.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PUPPY TO PET STORES, DOG PARKS, GROOMERS, OPEN GRASS AREAS THAT DONT BELONG TO YOU, OR TRAINING SCHOOL until the pup is up to date with all vaccines at 16 weeks of age. Puppies are very susceptible to diseases and you want to make sure he/she is fully vaccinated before you begin to expose him/her to everything and /or everyone.
