I was very surprised to discover out adopted German Shepherd Heidi knew how to shake. We discovered it accidentally after asking her to sit for a treat and she offered up her paw. Now we ask for it with the "shake" command and she gets it every time!

Hello WagNBraggers!

Let's brag about our animal friends. I thought we'd try to start a regular theme in the Braggin' Blog. Please feel free to post your reply here and share your stories with us.

Today's question is "Has your animal friend ever surprised you by showing you a trick that you didn't know he/she could do?" What secret talent did your animal friend finally reveal to you? How surprised were you?

I'll start by bragging on our youngest cat, Oliver. He is a 2-year-old mixed breed cat. He may be part Norwegian Forest Cat or Maine Coon.

Oliver came to us as a rescued feral kitten. Since his arrival two years ago, he continues to surprise us in all sorts of ways. Early on in his kitten days, he showed us a talent that we certainly didn't know he possessed. Oliver loves to play fetch!

Oliver has an obsession with the rubberband-like rings my wife uses in her hair for holding a bun, ponytail, pigtails, etc. He loves to find them and bat them around on the floor. One evening we were playing with him in the living room and tossing a "hair-do" at him to watch him pounce on it. After he had thoroughly "killed" his prey. He picked it up and brought it to our lap and trotted back to his spot on the floor. He kept his eye on us until we tossed the "hair-do" again-- this time further away from him. He chased it down, picked it up and promptly deposited it in our lap again. He repeated this several times and it is a game he still enjoys playing. He enjoys playing fetch more than our labrador retriever ever did. He is such a fun boy to have around.

Funny you should ask!

My hound, at about 14 weeks took to jumping up and while in the air turning arund, and landing at a perfect heel position. How it came about I have no clue! But the event spectators love it, the judges have never deducted points for it, and he gets a great kick out of it!

I'm sure there are other crazy, wacky pet tricks out there, so let's hear 'em!

Be Blessed,
